WhatsApp

05 January 2022

We all use WhatsApp daily to chat, send images and video call our friends and family. It has become the go-to Messaging Platform in most parts of the world- with more than 180 countries using the message system to connect us to our people across the globe Created in 2009 - and bought by Facebook in 2014 the app has grown to become a major way we communicate daily and with half a billion active monthly users that’s a lot of pics, calls, texts and gifs sent in a month!

But have we fully utilized this amazing message application that is both available for PC (WhatsApp Web) and mobile?

Since its inception in 2009, the platform has grown to surpass many other forms of communication- WhatsApp has according to an article by

SUMO.com, WhatsApp has started to take over from SKYPE as the voice call App.

And we are yet to see this simple yet effective mobile app further its potential users in the years to come…

In 2017 Facebook introduced WhatsApp Business. WhatsApp Mobile provided that nearer or smaller companies could communicate with their clients with little money, across the world, Simple needed a Mobile Number and Data or Wi-Fi connection to communicate. This used to be E-mail marketing’s greatest asset the quick response and mobile-friendly application that could allow customers to communicate concerns, receive updates on new products, or receive a coupon code for the next great shopping experience.

Email will never lose the impact it has had on small to bigger companies, but this type of communication can be chunky and have a lot of detailed information, rather than a simple quick help response. That is where WhatsApp for Business thrives. Communication is simple, calls are easy to make, and a simple gif or emoji could end a conversation. However, not a lot of people have integrated this platform into their marketing strategy. And we believe you should.

If you have WhatsApp great, if not simply swish to your app store search WhatsApp for Business, and follow the instructions. And voila. If you have a mobile app, simply download the business app, follow the instructions and your data/information will be imported into the new app. Bear in mind once you have the business app, WhatsApp mobile will no longer be active.

Ok, now you have the app and it's cool, there are a lot of tabs, labels, and information you can add to the app to make your business profile stand out.

Go to settings: and double-check the information you have added like the company address, website address, the About section, and operation hours.

Once you have done there, and are happy you can set up greeting messages as well as FAQs that your bots can answer if you are busy, or your mobile is MIA.

If you have products, you sell you can add them to the section under ‘catalog’- simply add a picture, price (optional), and description of the item(s).

Now let’s hope onto Away Messages, Greeting Messages and Quick Replies:

Away messages can be set to answer your customers that you are out of the office or set a schedule when you are away for vacation.

Greeting messages, answer your text in a short format to ask if there is anything you can help with.

Quick replies help you answer FAQs and have quick responses to questions, queries, and more information.

This helps you cut time spent responding to customers and getting quick feedback.

Labels are used to ‘tag’ what each customer either needs or needs to do. WhatsApp has a pre-set of labels, but you can delete, change, and even add more labels to suit your needs and keep tabs on which stage the customer is in the buyer’s funnel.

Lastly, there are short links which is a default message that your clients can edit and send. And a link the can connect your Facebook and Instagram with WhatsApp to get your messages received to your mobile if/when a customer finds you on the other social platforms. (You will notice the ‘button’ on your business page will be changed to WhatsApp to make it easy for your customers to connect with you.)

In conclusion, implementing WhatsApp Business into your marketing strategy can save you time money, and effort, and help push your customer relationships to even greater heights. In the world of society, people expect fast, quick responses and even faster resolutions. Don’t be left behind, join the digital giants and become a major player in your business/brand or niche.
